Public Phone

Problems
At Berjaya Megamall only have simple public phone that uses coins only . This is difficult to many people because most of them will not have much coins . If the electricity goes off , the public phone will not function . Any emergency call cannot be done . The coin always stuck in the public phone . It will make the other person cannot use the phone .










Solutions 


 The management should fix the latest type of phone booth . The new phone not only use coin ,but it also can use paper currency and phone card . Other than that , some of the new phone also can make a video call and send a message or e-mail . This is more easier because if the user could not speak , he/she can send an e-mail or send message to the person she want .This is for example :

Fire Alarm System

Problems

We had found that Berjaya Megamall is still using the old version of fire alarm system . This old version fire alarm is using a bell . The alarm manually turn on if someone push the emergency button . This fire alarm does not have any detector to detect fire . It takes time to tell everybody if there is fire occur and it is not function if someone do not break the glass and push the emergency button .


Solutions

The management must install the new product of fire alarm or fire detector for a safety . Smoke detector is the best product for a safety because it will detect the smoke that coming from fire and once it detect the smoke , the alarm will be turned on . Other than that it is also connect to fireman station , if there is a fire in the megamall .

An ordinary wheelchair

Problems

We had found that Berjaya Megamall has provide the wheelchair for person with disabilities . The wheelchair is an ordinary wheelchair which is hard to move for them . This wheelchair needs to paddle manually to move . Person with disabilities can not paddle by themselves to move around the megamall unless if people help them to push the wheelchair . It is really feels tired if someone paddle manually .



Solutions

The management of Berjaya Megamall must provide an electronic wheelchair for person with disabilities . It is easy to use and really save energy compared to manual wheelchair . The seat is much more comfortable for them to sit in long period of time . It does not feel tired when someone use it . No anti-Theft System

Problems


Almost all of the shop in the Berjaya Megamall's doesn't have security system . It's will make the theft increase because every shop at the open area . Although the items that been stolen was cheap , but it will make the owner have a big loss if everyday the items in the shop was stolen . 












Solutions


Owner of the shop can install the anti-theft system . Owner can install the anti magnetic noiseless at the front door . So , if there have somebody want to take something from the shop to outside , the anti magnetic will produce sound if the thing that he/she bring out still not key in to the cashier system . For the clothes  shop , they can put the anti-theft tag to the clothes . The tag only be opened by using it's own key that located at cashier counter only . For example is :

Escalator Safety Instruction

Problems


When we want to go to the next level , we use the escalator and we see there have the escalator safety instruction at the side of the escalator . Unfortunately , it's hard to read because it's to low at same level our feet . The picture also to small and not really clear . Maybe some people don't know the meaning of each picture that shown at the instruction .

Solution 

The management need to put the instruction more higher than usual . They can put the instruction at same level with shoulder . It's will make more easier to read because we no need to bend our body to read the instruction . The management also can put the voice system at the side of escalator , so it's will always remind every person before use the escalator . It's also will make a sound   to announce the user that the user use the wrong step .This is the example :

Lot of Waste Box at The Shop

Problems


When we walk around the Berjaya Megamall's , we saw a dump of boxes in front of one shop . Because of that boxes , the shop look crowded . It's give an effect that make the customer difficult to walk into the shop or out from the shop because the space full with waste object . It's also make the situation be dangerous . 








Solution


The owner of the shop or other shop that have same problems can buy electronic box dispose machine or electronic plastic dispose machine . When the new package was arrive , they can dispose the box that the don't use by using the electronic box dispose . Other than that , they also can use the machine to dispose paper . Problems


Lot of shop at Berjaya Megamall's only label the price of the items that they sell with handwriting on paper . It is not specific because they put the items together but the price is different . It will make customer confuse with the price and the customer will make a mistake because they are thinking that the items is cheap but actually the items is more expensive than they thought . It also will make the customer out of budget . 


Solution


The owner of the shop can install the price scanner at own shop . The price scanner function is to show the price of each items that we scan . Customer only need to put the bar cord at the scanner and it's will show the price . It's will make us more easier to know the price of the each items that we don't know the price or we hesitate with . It also can make our budget successfully . No News Paper Machine

Problems




When we move to the other side in the Berjaya Megamall's , we saw one shop that sell news paper . The owner just put the news paper at the rack . The effect is , people can read the news just for free and sometime it can be stolen . It's will make   the owner loss . The owner also cannot determine how many the news paper that have been sold . 
















Solutions




The owner of the shop that sell the news paper can buy  a news paper machine and put it at their shop . Customer just need insert money to the machine and then select the type of news paper that they wanted . The owner also can know how many that the news paper have been sold . If the paper was out of stock , the label at the machine that represent the types of news paper will turn to red until it been refill with the others news . Carpark System

Problems

Last Wednesday when we entered the Berjaya Megamall's car park to find the parking and we had noticed that the car park is difficult to find parking lot . It is wasting our time and fuel just to find empty space for a car . Congestion in car park will be happened if everyone keep entering the car park because it takes time and hard to find parking.





Solutions

Install the car park sensor at every parking lot . The sensor will detect whether the parking lot is occupied or not . If the parking lot is occupied , the light at the ceiling will turn red and it will turn to green if the parking lot empty . This way will make peoples easily to find their parking lot . Furthermore , it is saving our time and fuel . The other advantage of this system is no more congestion will be occurred in car park again . Below is one of example car park sensor system :

The Map of Berjaya Megamall

 Problems

My friends and I went to Berjaya Megamall last Wednesday . When we entered the megamall we had noticed that the map of the megamall is not very clear because the text is too small to read . The picture of the map also in a small size , peoples couldn't get the direction of the map where the shop is located . Beside that , the map is not updated because it is fixed and cannot be changed . The map is also confusing to get direction because it has a lot of words .

Solutions

The management should replace the board map with the touch screen digital map at every floor . By using the digital map , peoples can easily find where the shop is located . It is also not wasting time to find location of shops because peoples can choose the category or kind of shop by touching the screen of the map to get direction . Non-Creative Shop Lot Rent Advertisement


PROBLEM

My group had went to Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan last Sunday. I had noticed there were many shops for rent at there. I also noticed that the owner just pasted the advertisements with half- hearted. This is because some of the advertisements had been pasted inappropriately. This had shown us how the owners's attitude and I think this have to be change.







SOLUTIONS

Websites as mudah.my and e-bay.com are the most popular marketplace websites. People always use this website to sell or to announce any bids. By advertise the advertisements here it will be a good steps. My opinion is people nowadays are in computer era. So if they wanted to find a shop for rent, they will just search for it in websites as these two websites. So this kind of advertisements will get more and faster responses than other kind of advertisements.

Another effective way is by viral advertisements. This kind of advertisements can be made widely and we can choose whether to use it in online or on the outside world.

The concept of  viral advertisements is just like a virus that spreading within humans. Let say we wanted to rent a shop to others. Then we tell about it to our friends, after that our friends tell about it to their friends and so on. This will be known widely by other people. This kind of advertising also didn't use any costs because we just have to tell others by speaking to them or tell them via facebook,twitter and other social network websites.

No Cashier Machine In  Shop

PROBLEMS

I had went to a PC games shop in Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan last Sunday. For me, the shop is really weird and unusual for a shop inside a big mall. There are no cashier machine in the shop. 

I had bought a PC CD game from that shop to confirmed that the shop really doesn't have any cashier machine or cash drawer. And my thought is true. Plus, there are no receipt given to me. This will be difficult for the customers if the PC CD games that they had bought from this shop had some problems. This is because there are no receipts or records that they had bought it from the shop.

SOLUTIONS

The simplest way to solve the problem is uses of hand-writing receipts. It at least can be a proof for the items that customers had purchased at the shop. With that, customers feel more secure of the items that they wanted to buy because they have a record that proof the items are from the shop. Then if the items have some problems they can exchange it at the shop. With the receipts, the shop-parties will not argue about anything.

This cashier machine can help the cashier to calculate for the balance. This will avoid any error of calculating the balance of customers money. It also issue receipts for the customers so that it can be a proof if that the PC CD game was bought at the shop.

This is the solutions for both problems. Why? Because it had three uses.

1) It can store money so the cashier doesn't have to store it elsewhere. Plus, it can prevent the loss of the money.

2) This cashier machine also can do the calculation for the cashier. This means that the cashier doesn't have to used calculator to count customer's balance money. This can help the cashier from doing any error in counting the balance.
3) It also can issue receipts. By this, customers will get the receipts and they can use it as a proof if the PC CD games that they bought from the shop had some problems.

This is the upgraded cashier machine from the normal cashier machine. It have a bar code reader that can be use to scan the bar code of the products. It also can issue the receipts for customers. It also have the ability to do calculation for the cashier.

Another alternative is to use a touch screen cashier machine. It's the most latest design of the cashier machine. It is more simple because it doesn't have any keyboard and it can save up some space. In additional, it also use a scanner to scan products codes. Using this, the cashier doesn't have to type the products codes. That also can save reduce time for payments. As other cashier machine it also can do the calculation and release receipts for customers.

PROBLEMS

 This time I found an unusual PC games shop in Berjaya Megamall, Kuantan. When the first time I entered the shop I never expect that I had entered a PC games shop. This is because the shop is so empty. There are no games advertisements, computer, and other things that related to the computer. In the shop there were a polite uncle who sit in front of drawers block. He is the owner of the shop.

First thing I did in the shop is I look around the shop and I realize there are many PC games CD inside the glass of wall cabinet. Then I had ask the uncle for a CD game. Then he began to search for it. Firstly, he search the number of the games from his book. Secondly, he wrote the number on a paper (maybe he afraid he would forget the number of the CD game).

- The problem of this way is he needs several minutes to search for a CD game number.

Then, using the paper he searched for the CD in some full CD drawers. It took several minutes for him to find the CD game.

- This also takes several minutes for him to get the CD game because he had to seek the drawers one by one.









I found that this kind of way of searching for a CD is an old-fashioned way. It is slow and takes much time. People nowadays always wanted  fastest service whenever they are. So that, customers will hate it when a service like this is applied in a shop. This will take much of their time.

SOLUTIONS


The solution of the problems are :

The uncle have to labelled his CD games into several groups and make it well organized. This could help him to search for CD game much more faster.

He also have to labelled his drawers and organize the CD games into the suitable labelled drawers. By this, he doesn't have to seek for CD games from one drawer to another drawers. As example, if a customer wanted a fighting CD game, so he just have to seek for it in 'fighting' labelled drawer without seek in other labelled drawers.

The easiest way is he just have to get a computer and installed for search software as the Nodus CD-Key Manager. By using this, he just have to type the name of the CD game. Then the software will search for specific of the CD game, in which drawer it is, what is it number. This kind of way will help him reduce the time used to search for CD game.

Poor DVD selling Business

PROBLEMS

The Problem I get from my observation is, the effectiveness of the DVD selling business in Megamall, Kuantan. Poor DVD selling business. I found out that, there are only one person in charge in looking after the shop. When I walk to the shop and have a look on those DVD movies, the seller still sitting in the same place and not treat their customer.


This is a very poor DVD selling business. The DVD shop is quite big in area. I walked into the shop and observe the places. Then i realise, there was no CCTV camera on recording. Plus the seller was busy with their own work, people can easily stole their DVD disk and walk away.


SOLUTION
The Solution are, place some CCTV camera for a safety precaution in case if there is a robber stealing some DVDs and the recording can be made as a prove. CCTV is very important for safety. When the shop are fill with numbers of customer, and the shop doesn't have enough staff to look after every customer, CCTV is the most convenient way to observe robbery.




Instead of selling DVDs in shop, the owners also can expand their DVDs business through out the internet. In this modern internet era, most customer in the world prefer to shop online. In this way, customer can easily get the products they wanted, instead of having to go out of house and go to a Mall and find a DVD shop. It is also  a trust able way to purchase DVD. The photo shows some of website that have the service of selling DVD online.

Non-Interactive Food Menu

PROBLEMS

This is a quite rare problem i found. Its a food menu in front of a food restaurant. This menu is not interactive at all. As if you can see in the photo, there are only few piece of paper menu of the food available. But can you consider that all food are available that time? Absolutely not, even the biggest food restaurant such as Mc Donald, may sometime the food in the menu is unavailable.

Many restaurant in Megamall applied this method, but still can consider a good way to attract customer.

What if i said, a customer wanted to buy a Special Burger King, and at that time, the food stock for that meal is not available, so the customer whether need to wait for the stock to arrive or to buy another meal. This is completely had ruin the customer wants to that meal, and thus may bring disadvantages to the food restaurant.

SOLUTIONS

The solution i suggest is to put an electronic screen-touch LCD screen in front or besides the entrance to the restaurant or even on the customer table itself! Based on my knowledge in IT on database, in a company, there will be a database for their workers' information and so on, and so do food menu in a restaurant. Food menu will quite regular change every year depends on seasons. So, if the information on the menu changed, then the old menu paper will not be used anymore. I suggest in this kind of way, so that any information or new food menu can be updated easily and it is also delivered in digital space or also so called paperlessinformation transfer.

When the food menu is updated, customer can easily access to the food menu database and get the latest information on that food menu, such as popularity, price, recommendations and so on, depends on the restaurant how to make it creative.

Customer can review the food before they order it.
